ATMS Board application and plan 2020

Below is my Bio for the ATMS application, along with the two colleagues whom are also planning to have Massage Therapists part of the Board. Our aim to raise the voice and influence of Massage across the industry and into connected industries (as outlined in our plan…. if we all get a seat). This is a team effort and we’d love both support and sharing of our posts to spread the word and lift Massage to the level it deserves and is ready for.

My Bio/ application:

Donna Eddy has been an active remedial massage therapist for 20+ years. She has lectured and presented nationally over that time. Donna was published in “Fascia and Sport & Movement” in 2015 alongside leading tactile therapists, as a result of her strong background in movement and Stretch Therapy.

Opening her Posture Plus program to Massage Therapists, has been Donna’s way to adding value to the Massage industry with innovative and integrative ways to manage and treat musculoskeletal disorders. As well as add income streams.

Donna is ready to engage more in the industry and is keen to broaden the scope and reach for Massage Therapists. Donna feels having an industry current, experienced Massage Therapist as a voice for the industry, will help elevate the reach for all. Working smarter and moving with the times is Donna’s silent mantra, summarised as “effective & efficient”.

Donna has an insatiable drive for exploring all tactile and physical methods of treating both injuries, and structure issues for clients. From a clinical and a business standpoint Donna’s experience can open new perspectives and ideas, and its this holistic and inclusive mindset that Donna wishes to bring to the industry via a seat on the ATMS board.

Greg Morling

Greg Morling has been a remedial massage therapist for over 30 years. He has lectured and given many workshops Internationally and locally over that time. He is published widely in Britain and Europe, writing and lecturing on a broad range of topics including research methods for complementary therapists, visceral massage, the iliopsoas, and successful, innovative approaches to treating musculoskeletal disorders.

He has developed massage and various treatment protocols for leading Spas in Australia and  guided many groups of therapists to international destinations in order to learn new massage styles. He has deep respect for the medicines of indigenous cultures, especially those of our First Peoples. Greg believes that ‘care’ is at the heart of complementary therapies irrespective of your natural therapy modality.

Greg has held a long-standing commitment to developing both the hands-on expertise and the theoretical knowledge of the remedial massage therapists in Australia and beyond. He has mentored many massage therapists, assisting them to establish and grow their businesses and to find fulfilment in this work we do.

Patrick de Permentier

Patrick de Permentier is a member of ATMS for over 20 years and an accredited remedial massage therapist.

Patrick conducted ATMS workshops on topics such as arthritis, sciatica, asthma and knee joint conditions. He has published in the Journal of the Australian Traditional Medicine Society on topics such as the quadratus lumborum and its involvement in back pain, skin scar tissue, and the bone periosteal relationship to growing pains.

Patrick was one of the presenters of the inaugural ATMS National Seminar series in 2016 on the topic of management of acute and chronic stress.

As well as providing the anatomy and physiology background to these topics, Patrick detailed benefits that could be achieved by massage therapists and other natural therapy professionals. This meant that each published article was very focussed on ATMS members.

Patrick served as a member of the ATMS Research Committee and as part of this committee published collaborative articles in the ATMS journal and in Complementary Therapies in Medicine. Patrick also served as an ATMS Member’s Representative dealing with members enquiries in order to raise them with board members.

As a result, I feel that I am well placed to be an effective member on the board.

So, with all that said!

Those in the industry, we’d love to have your vote for all three of us.

Together we have a plan to develop Remedial Massage training and offerings. We will encourage the implementation of better relationships with other therapeutic modalities and enact the inclusion of multiple modalities to deepen and broaden the skillset of therapists.

We thank you in advance for your support and look forward to being the voice for and speaking on behalf of Remedial Massage Therapists.
